The Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority’s annual "Las Vegas Visitor Profile Study" for 2016 hasn’t been released yet, but according to the 2015 study, the average gambling budget for the average gambler’s trip to Las Vegas was $578.54.
This number changes, sometimes significantly, but mostly over time. For example, the average gambling budget per trip in 2011, four years earlier, was $447.63, though that was at the tail end of the recession. In 2014, the average gambling budget per trip was up to $530.11. So we can assume the 2016 visitor’s gambling budget was somewhere around 2015’s, though perhaps a little higher.
If we divide 2105’s budget by the average number of days per visit (4.4), also according to the survey, we come up with roughly $132 per day.
Admittedly, these are pretty round numbers. But $132 is the closest we can come to an official figure, based on the study’s methodology of in-person interviews conducted with 3,600 randomly selected visitors, 300 interviews each month from January through December 2015.
