I went to book the Golden Nugget and the request for smoking rooms doesn’t appear and I also saw some option to pay an additional $20 per day for that option. We will be arriving April 23 so we need to know our options.
A number of Las Vegas hotels still have rooms designated for smokers, based, as always, on availability. At most of them the smoking rooms have no conditions attached. A few, however, do charge for the privilege. The Cannery appends a $7.90 upcharge. Embassy Suites Convention Center sees that and raises it to $10. Bally’s Las Vegas has an odd arrangement whereby, as dictated by demand, it can cost you and extra ten spot — or earn you a $10 markdown.
Bellagio is one of the few MGM Resorts International properties to still allow smoking, although it comes at the price of a $300 cleaning deposit. By contrast, smoking is off-limits at the Four Seasons and they’ll hit you with a $300 fine if you defy the rules.
At Cosmopolitan, smoking inside the rooms is prohibited, although you’re permitted to light up out on the terrace, which most rooms at Cosmo have.
Mandalay Bay has "a few floors" where smoking is permitted, but reservations won’t guarantee anything in advance.
Downtown, the Golden Nugget permits smoking in its Carson and Gold towers, although it will cost you $30 to guarantee a smoking room.
At Palace Station, "You have to do a Premium Room [upgrade] to get the smoking," at the cost of $10 to $15.
The Rio only permits smoking in the Masquerade Tower and the price is on a sliding scale, subject to availability.
Days Inn at Wild Wild West would only commit so far as "generally there’s not" an extra fee.
Hooters hides behind a "depends on availability" veil.
At Siegel Slots & Suites, smoking is permitted only in week-long rentals, not in overnight rooms.
You’re taking a bit of a chance if you book a room at Sunset Station, since smoking rooms have to requested at check-in.
The Tuscany devotes two of its several buildings to smoking rooms.
Tropicana sets aside two floors for smokers and — how’s this for a surprise? — gives them a $10 break on room rates.
Casinos that cater to smokers without any uncharge or deposit are:
Alexis Park Aliante Hotel & Casino (one floor only) Ambassador Strip Inn Arizona Charlie’s Boulder Arizona Charlie’s Decatur Boulder Station Buffalo Bill’s Primm Valley Resort Whiskey Pete’s Caesars Palace California Hotel Downtown Grand Eastside Cannery El Cortez (in the Pavilion area only) Encore Wynn Las Vegas Extended Stay America Valley View Fiesta Henderson Fiesta Rancho Flamingo Four Queens Fremont Gold Coast Golden Gate Green Valley Ranch Hard Rock Hotel (two floors per tower) Harrah’s Las Vegas Link Longhorn Lucky Club Lucky Dragon (one floor only) M Resort Main Street Station The Orleans Palazzo Venetian Palms (but no guarantee) Paris Las Vegas (rates determined by availability) Planet Hollywood Plaza Hotel Railroad Pass Renaissance Las Vegas Royal Resort Sam’s Town Santa Fe Station Silverton South Point Stratosphere Suncoast Super 8 Nellis Terrible’s Road House (aka Gold Strike) yes Texas Station Westgate Las Vegas
So there’s no shortage of places to stay if you want to light up in your room and relatively few where you pay for the privilege.
