Question of the Day - 06 June 2017

Q:

While trying to get to the June 2017 newsletter, I saw a statement that read, “The current newsletter and the newsletter archives are available to Diamond and Platinum members only.”  I couldn’t find any explanation for or about these specific categories.  Can you elaborate, please?

A:

Happy to, especially since this answer can do double-duty in introducing tomorrow's poll question.

When we upgraded this website, we adopted a new sales platform in which it was more expedient to name our membership levels. They're the same as the old ones, they just have new labels.

Diamond is what we used to call the "online" membership ($37). Diamond members read the LVA newsletter online, receive the Member Rewards Book of coupons, can access Printable Member Rewards, and get a free membership (worth $99) to the Theater Extras free-ticket club that's in the early set-up stages right now.

Platinum is what we used to call a "full" membership ($50). Here, you get all the benefits of Diamond, plus your printed newsletter is mailed to you.

While we're on the subject, our Gold membership hasn't changed names. It's still Gold, it's still free, and it allows you to access some special deals we offer, plus you can post comments on the site and in the forums.

To sign up for any of the three, simply click this link, then click on the appropriate button in the middle of the page.

Which brings us to tomorrow's poll.

We're considering revamping the membership program, so tomorrow we'll start surveying readers on the possibilities. Choices include:

1) LVA "core benefits," the Member Rewards Book of yearly coupons; Printable Member coupons added throughout the year; and bonus membership in the Theater Extras free-ticket club, plus the monthly Las Vegas Advisor newsletter (the current LVA model);

2) core benefits plus a choice of our books, software, strategy cards, etc., including all new releases (this model replaces the newsletter); and

3) core benefits only at a lower price than options 1 and 2 (for those of you interested primarily in the coupons).

Look for it tomorrow and cast your vote; we'll be paying very close attention to the results.

    new programs
Why don't you have an all inclusive option that would include items 1. and 2.

    new programs
looks to me like # 2 IS inclusive of 1 and 2, unless I'm reading option 2 wrong.

    how #2 is different
In tomorrow's poll, the core benefits don't include the newsletter. Number one is the core benefits plus the newsletter. Number two is the core benefits plus books, software, and strategy cards, everything we sell BUT the newsletter.

    New Programs
All 3 of the programs sound fine, and offer more opportunities for customers to join. More members means more services, so I'm all for it.

    no newsletter??
deke...I'm confused..... if the above answer shows #1 is basically what we have no for the full membership and that includes the newsletter...and you are saying TOMORROW, THE POLL WILL BE NOT INCLUDING THE NEWSLETTER with the core benefits.....then you say #1 is the core plus the newsletter...............will #1 be like we have now or not?
