Question of the Day - 21 June 2017

Q:

New Reader Poll

A:

This poll was inspired by a Question of the Day we posted last week about Daylight Saving Time, plus yesterday's deeper explanation of the issues based on questions we received off the original answer. If you didn't see yesterday's QoD, you might want to go back and read it, so you have a better idea about what you think (scroll down a bit on this page and click on the "See Previous" link). Or click the Vote link here to go directly to the poll.

    Drowsy driving and Heart Attacks
In the last 30 days, about 4% of drivers report having fallen asleep at the wheel. The actual percentage s likely higher. In 2013, drowsy driving was a factor in 72,000 crashes, 44,000 injuries, and 800 deaths. There are more heart attacks in the three days following the changeover to Daylight Saving Time.

If you work the night shift, as many people in Nevada do, the strain of shift work is worsened by the change back to Standard Time because you're working an extra hour. Night shift workers might be the only people who get "extra" sleep because of the change to Daylight Saving Time, but that comes at the cost of losing an hour of pay.

My opinion is that Nevada should be in the Mountain Tome Zone, not the Pacific Time Zone. As you've probably guessed by now, I don't like Daylight Saving Time,
