Question of the Day - 13 April 2024

Q:

Alexis Park Resort is a property we heard quite a lot about for years after its opening in the 1980s. It promoted the fact it was an all-suite non-gambling property close to the Strip. In recent years, though, not much news from Alexis Park; why?

A:

Probably for the same reason it got attention early in its life: because it’s a non-gambling resort that’s a mile off the Las Vegas Strip.

Its closest neighbor, Virgin Las Vegas, struggles with the same location-oriented handicap, despite having a casino. Also, there’s nothing flashy about the low-rise low-profile Alexis Park. Though that's part of its appeal to those who visit it and stay there, it doesn't prompt much attention otherwise. In Las Vegas, hotels without casinos tend, in the eyes of visitors and news media, a poor-relation status, even those on the Strip.

Further, Alexis Park doesn’t have a nightclub or elaborate pool complex or practically anything in the way of retail. It’s not, however, without its attractions, including its restaurants, Alexis Gardens and the New Steak House.

Also, it presents a quintet of small production shows, all homage revues, in its showroom. These are All Shook Up (Elvis Presley, naturally), Frankly Frank: An Intimate Tribute to Sinatra the Man and the Music, All Motown, King of Diamonds: The Ultimate Neil Diamond Tribute, and Flashback: Tina Turner & Friends Tribute. There are an average of four shows a night, on the hour from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m.

If you haven't checked out Alexis Park lately, they’d make a good excuse for doing so.
