Is East Side Cannery now using the same player’s card as the other Boyd properties?
When will Boyd Gaming recognize the Aliante Casino on their online site and change the players club card to B Connected?
Boyd Gaming acquired the Aliante Hotel-Casino, way up on the northeast edge of the valley, for $380 million in September 2016. At the time, Boyd announced that "the resort will be unchanged for the foreseeable future," except for the transition of the sports book, which quickly began posting Boyd lines. At the time, Boyd also predicted that the Aliante casino would be incorporated into the B Connected system "in 2017."
At the time, we wondered, well, which is it? Unchanged for the foreseeable future? Or incorporated into the B Connected system sometime in the next year or so? It turned out to be the former and it's now a year and a half later and a lot of people are still wondering when the changeover will take place -- at least if the questions we receive about it are any indication.
Boyd responded to a local player's written query on the subject. The player, Keith, an occasional correspondent of ours, was gracious enough to pass along the letter he received in return.
"Thank you for the letter you wrote to us inquiring about Aliante Casino, Hotel & Spa being included in B Connected, Boyd Gaming’s nationwide loyalty program. We are planning to launch B Connected at Aliante later this year. We have been completing work to integrate the key systems between Aliante and Boyd Gaming, which is needed for Aliante to be part of B Connected. Prior to launching B Connected at Aliante, Players’ Club members will receive advanced notice with details on the benefits that will be offered. We greatly appreciate your patronage of Aliante, and your patience as we work through this process to introduce B Connected. Thanks again for your letter, and we will look forward to serving you for years to come."
If "later this year" means sometime around September, it'll be two years since Boyd acquired Aliante. In December, it'll also be two years since Boyd acquired the Canneries, which also have yet to merge with B Connected. And as of now, we don't have any information on that transition.
We like Boyd and we're not saying they're slow or should be in more of a hurry; when they incorporate their new casinos into the B Connected fold is their business, not ours. But compared to the alacrity with which Station Casinos assimilated the Palms into its Boarding Pass system, Boyd is obviously the tortoise to Station's hare.
