Question of the Day - 26 November 2023

Q:

Can you do one on Andrew (didn't catch his last name), the head of Downtown Grand? He seems like a savvy businessman, not out to screw customers, like Caesar and MGM.

A:

We certainly can, but if you'll allow us an indulgence, Andrew Economon was recently profiled on CDCGamingReports.com and he was the very first guest on Beer Fridays, our occasional live YouTube show.

With just a couple of clicks, you'll not only read all about Andrew, his background, and his philosophy, you'll also see him live and in action with Anthony and Andrew (Hunt).

And it'll give us a little QoD breather on this holiday weekend, as we work our way through the rest of the leftovers and today's football lineup and get ready for a big week of coupon acquiring.

Find the profile here and the video here (Andrew comes in at the 12-minute mark).

And thank you for your support.

    Room For Inprovement
It seems like they’re doing some good things over there, but the video poker is meh (especially above the quarter denom… the DDB on bartops is compelling but that’s about it) and I’ve heard comp offers are either not good or nonexistent. Also, they need to either have another restaurant or two on premises that are comparable or set something up with downtown restaurants like what One Club properties or El Cortez do to accept their comp dollars…

    Disapointed
I like to be positive, my experience at the Downtown Grand was not good. We stayed and were looking forward to going home from day one. Reason 1: At the bar they were very limited for drinks. Bartender said he could not make an Old Fashion and so many more drinks. The service was horrible. Why would I play games at the bar if they could not provide any of the drinks we wanted? These are drinks available at any bar in Las Vegas. Reason:2 It was very loud outside and hard to get a nights sleep. Friday night was the worst by far. The music usually ended at midnight but on Friday the band played till 3am! Not cheap to stay there. Never again! The only good thing was Pizza Rock across the street

    Love the $5 Craps
I love play craps at DTG! Most dealers are fun and interactive. It always seems busy and NOT everyone is playing $5 minimum. I wish other casinos would realize that a full table of $5 players is better than empty $15 tables. Math ALWAYS wins, so having a full table would be to their advantage. Can't wait to go back.
