While making a recent farewell visit to the Riviera, we noticed how many more of its slots have progressives than the Caesars Entertainment properties we play at. I understand that normally casinos have to transfer the progressive amount to another machine on the floor if they remove a progressive. What happens in the case a casino closing for good like the Riviera, what happens to all those accumulated progressive jackpots?

I was speaking with a high-limit dealer from Cosmopolitan today and he said the cocktail waitresses have to pay 25¢ for each drink poured at the bar. I don’t know how accurate this information is, or whether it includes non-alcoholic drinks. Does this sound right to you? If it is true, do the patrons who stiff the waitresses cost them that much in the long run, or do they typically get enough to make up for it?

I’ve been told that the old hotel over Binion’s -- the former Apache Hotel -- has a fourth floor with only one suite, Room 400. Any truth to this? Also, when did the Apache Hotel close?

Bally Game Makers have been seen less and less all over. I asked Bally’s and the casinos years ago and my answer was [there were fewer machines] because they could not switch to TITO. They are in Reno, Niagara Falls (U.S. AND Canada). The Orleans in Las Vegas also has a few. I miss playing Let It Ride and Pick ’Em and will only go to places that have them. HELP I NEED MY GAMEMAKER!!! (Gold Mine is such a missed game also). Please help me find these machines if they still are in casinos!!!!!!!

I was watching a "Pawn Stars" episode on History Channel, original air date Feb. 12, 2013. During the show an outside view looking north from the Pawn Shop (713 S. Las Vegas Blvd.) showed a seven-to-eight story building being constructed. Then, later on the show, that same building was not there. Could you please tell me what that building is and if any of the wedding chapels or small motels were removed for construction?

About a year ago, I'm guessing, Green Valley Ranch closed its sushi, Chinese and Italian restaurants. One of the promised new restaurants, Pizza Rock, finally opened on March 17. But the wall promising El Mercadito, touted as the best Mexican restaurant in New York City (the place they make bad salsa, according to an old commercial) and a related bar is still standing where Terra Verde and an Irish pub used to be. I recently received an e-mail survey from GVR asking what kind of restaurant was missing from Henderson, the suburb where GVR is located. That leads me to believe the El Mercadito deal has fallen through. Can you unravel this whole sad story? "Restaurant Impossible" on the Food Network rehabs and reopens restaurants in 48 hours!
