Is anything special happening in and/or around Las Vegas, or are there any decent promotions for Leap Year Day (February 29th)?

As promised, today we're running your extensive feedback resulting from our recent Reader Poll on comps and your perception of how the economy has affected them in Las Vegas.

Today we tackle two questions in one, since related inquiries came in coincidentally from two different readers at almost the same time. First up: "From time to time you mention Bob Stupak’s Vegas World vacation packages from the old days. I remember seeing print ads for the VW offers when I was a kid. I also remember seeing commercials featuring Telly Savalas for something called 'Players Club International.' Was this in any way Las Vegas- (or Atlantic City-) related? Was this a deal similar to the one at Vegas World?" Part II: "Was Telly Savalas a resident of Nevada? He seemed to like to gamble; he even filmed one of the ’Kojak’ episodes there."

Where are the chips casinos use made? Also, do the casinos see many counterfeit chips?

How are casino hosts compensated? Do they earn a commission on a player’s theo or actual losses?

Question 1: As a follow-up to your answer to today's question (QoD 4/9/10) about casino hosts, my question is, how much do you need to bring to Vegas in order for the casino hosts to be interested in hosting you? Question 2: What size bankroll does one need in order to feel they can enlist the services of a casino host? If you tell them you have a certain size bankroll and you don't put it in action, what can you expect the repercussions to be, if any?

This is a follow-up to the QOD last week (4/2/10) about using more than one free lodging offer at the same time. In the past, I've booked myself into two hotels on the same dates and gone back and forth between them with no consequences and no remorse. However, I would like to use a free lodging comp for some visiting friends (in Tunica). The only caveat on the offer is, "Offer exclusively for (me)." This doesn't seem to preclude my checking in, giving the front desk my credit card, then turning the keys over to my friends. Am I wrong about this? I have a feeling if I call the hotel (Harrah's in Tunica) and ask, they'll say I can't do it. But I don't really see why not and your answer last week seems to confirm that. However, will I soon be receiving guests from the county jail if I do this?

Is it OK to book rooms using free offers at different hotels for the same nights, allowing a relative to use one of the offers?

This one is for Jean Scott. Regarding the decrease in comps and casinos refiguring their comp policies, I noticed that Harrah's Total Rewards players club has shortened their point expiration period to 6 months from the date of last play. All the rest of the clubs at other casinos (at least in Nevada) use 12 months or longer. Is this a recent change and what is the response out there from other players?
