On our last trip to Las Vegas (October), we took a day trip out to Valley of Fire. Wow. We've been coming to Vegas for two decades and never realized what a beautiful park was so close. Though all the rock formations are spectacular, we were most taken with the petroglyphs. Can you shed some light on their origins and significance?

I just went through the QoD archives re: entertainment and couldn't find this addressed: How about an updated list of Vegas daytime shows, e.g. Ron Lucas and Mac King, which I know of. Thanks.

Everyone knows that Las Vegas isn’t exactly known for preserving its history, but does it have any museums? If so, can you recommend the best one or two in terms of helping to understand how the city came to be the way it is?

Two years ago I was in Vegas in December, when the rodeo was in town. Down on Fremont Street they had a cookout and Crown Royal shots, plus stuff for kids. What’s going on this year? And are there any good country-western clubs that have good dance floors?

I'm a 50-something frequent visitor to Las Vegas who likes to stay out late, dancing and drinking and partying. The problem is, the trendy clubs are for people half my age and I feel distinctly old and uncomfortable there (I've tried them). Do you have any suggestions for a little more sedate and conducive scene where I can find people closer to my age?

Since Vegas is already perpetually in "Halloween" mode, is there anything special that actually goes on for the holiday there? Or is it just another day in paradise?

There is a man who, no matter how hot or cold it is, is always outside directing traffic, singing in his mike dressed up like a flag or an Indian or even a basketball. He is on the corner of Sahara and Fort Apache. Why does this man do that? And who is he?
