Where did the term "jackpot" come from? Similarly the word "bingo"?

I read somewhere that the District Attorney of Clark County is the official collection agency for the Las Vegas casinos. Is this true? And if so, what does it mean?

Do you remember in the '60s and early '70s the game with the three dice inside the bird cage? You bet on which numbers would come up after they spun the cage. What was it called and how did you play?

Can you explain the abbreviations that are used in the Las Vegas Advisor and on LasVegasAdvisor.com to describe the various video poker machines? Some are obvious (example, 9/6 JoB), but some are very confusing (examples, FPDW and NSUD). Please help!

Having been in Las Vegas recently, and seeing the many large areas of casinos now devoted to poker, my question is: How do the casinos make money on these games?

Settle an argument for us, please. My boyfriend claims that slot machines accept credit cards. I say they don't. Who's right?

Is there anywhere in Las Vegas where can I go to place my own bets, without having to go to a teller? I like to use a betting machine when I make my bets at a race track. No casino I've visited has machines to make self-serve bets. Along with making my own bets, I like to use the same machines to check my tickets before I throw them away. I don't watch each race that I bet, so I want to make sure my tickets are no good.

What are your all-time favorite Vegas/gambling-themed movies? Which do you feel portray the most realistic vision of Las Vegas as it exists today, or did so during the time the movie pretends to cover?
