Lately you’ve expertly answered questions about a number of Nevada casinos in a state of flux. As a former Las Vegas resident, now living in northern Nevada, I would love to know the story on the Ormsby House in Carson City. Neighbors tell me the place has been in a state of remodel/repair/"flux" for as long as they can remember.

Now that any final lingering trace of "Hilton" has been erased, with LVH having been sold and re-branded as the Westgate Las Vegas, can you give us the background on the building and its history? I seem to recall it being a fixture from when I first started visiting Vegas, back in the ’70s.

Your recent QOD (7/14/14), about longest-running contemporary Strip headliner, mentioned Lance Burton and the fact that his show ended in 2010. It made me think about ALL the former long-running headliners, like Elvis, Siegfried & Roy, Liberace, Wayne Newton, etc. Is there a list of long-running residencies? If there isn’t already a standard definition, I would consider long-running as 10 years or more, and a residency as doing at least 5 shows per week for at least 40 weeks per year. (Hmmm... Would the above examples qualify under my definition?)

I'm a Vegas limo driver and recently drove a wedding couple and their friends to Bellagio after their wedding because they wanted to take pictures in the Conservatory and by the Fountains. While by the fountain show, a Bellagio security guard came up and informed them that wedding pictures were not permitted anywhere on the property. I'm not sure why this is a rule or why you can take pictures anywhere on the property unless you're in a wedding gown, but this is what they were told. Do you have any clue why this rule exists?

I noticed an ad, below a recent QOD answer, for Carrot Top’s show, and it got me to thinking (which is pretty troubling in of itself!), but who are the current longest-running headliners with their own shows on the Strip?

What is the connection (if any) between Bally's Hotel & Casino, Bally Gaming (manufacturers of slot machines), Bally Total Fitness (a chain of gyms)? I seem to recall Bally making bowling machines, also.

This "Sample Sunday" should be a treat for all you history buffs and "Old Vegas" fans out there, as we're excerpting from Las Vegas Review-Journal entertainment columnist Mike Weatherford's Cult Vegas, an illustrated celebration of the colorful characters and acts that established the city as the Entertainment Capital of the World.

What happened to the TV show, Poker After Dark? Is it done locally or is it all gone? Stations here no longer show it. I liked the pros playing for winner take all.

There was a TV show about Las Vegas around two years ago showing what Las Vegas was like back in the Fifties and Sixties when the mob ran it. They talked a lot about the Milwaukee mob and the influence it had. Did the Milwaukee mob really have that much influence on Las Vegas? I thought Chicago was the big gun.

Starting from one end of the Strip to the other, would it be possible to match up the casinos of today with the casinos that used to be at that location in the past, say in the '60s, '70s, or '80s? For example, what casino did Bellagio replace, or the Cosmopolitan, etc.? (Even mentioning the name changes would be great, e.g., the Aladdin was renamed Planet Hollywood.)
