I read a book entitled "War of the Godfathers" and the book states that a casino was to built by operatives of the Chicago Mob. It also suggests that former Desert Inn owner, Moe Dalitz was murdered. I have followed the history of Las Vegas and the Mob for years and I don’t know anything about "The Star" and i believe that Moe Dalitz died of natural causes. Can you verify?

In the 1960s, I was under the impression that Las Vegas and Reno were more or less equal in number of casinos and popularity with gamblers. Obviously, Las Vegas is way ahead in both categories now. Any idea what happened that caused Reno's gambling economy to swoon while Vegas's was booming?

I hope this question isn’t too sensitive to answer, but here goes. I’ve been a big fan of Blair Rodman’s since reading his excellent book Kill Phil. I also liked his history of the World Series of Poker that you put up recently. But conspicuous in its absence is any mention of WSOP Main Event winner Russ Hamilton. I know that Russ has been the source of much bad press and ill will in poker of late, but he was the 25th-anniversary champion and, along with the first-place prize, was paid the value of his weight in silver. Anthony Curtis has made no secret of the fact that he and Russ are long-time friends, so I expected a lot more than nothing.

What can you tell me about the old Continental Hotel and Casino on Paradise Road, where the current Terrible's sits?

The old Holiday Inn Riverboat casino is now Harrah's, the old MGM is now Bally's, the San Remo is now Hooters, the Barbary Coast is now Bill's Gamblin’ Hall and Saloon, the Aladdin is now the Planet Hollywood. Are there any other resorts that escaped the imploders’ explosives and basically just went through some renovations, then "reopened" under the new name?
