Your answer to the Battista QoD made me wonder, what’s the story with the liquor store nearby? They proudly proclaim on their sign that they have 20 some years left on their lease. Does the owner have a Harrah’s grudge?

Battista's was the first restaurant my wife and I ate at on our first trip to LV in the '80s and we always try and go back once each trip. My question is who was/is Battista? He seems to have had his photo taken with every celebrity of the '60s and '70s. He seems to have thought he was quite the athlete.

I remember a while back you guys posted a story about the Jockey Club and how it’s still standing while CityCenter is built around it. I posted a picture up on flickr of the Jockey Club and had a comment pop up... I want to make sure that my explanation was correct, that the reason was due to the Jockey Club having a couple thousand(?) owners? Here’s the actual goings on: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mkotich/3971127416/ I’ve put in a couple links for you guys in my response. If you could remind me, or even just reply in-thread, that’d be great.

Have you ever had a question that you just could not find an answer? A few years ago, there was a small casino-restaurant at (and this may be why I can't find the answer) the southwest corner of Paradise and Flamingo (at least I think that was the location) that had a wreck of an airplane just outside the main entrance. The plane had a double tail. Can you tell me the name of this place? You may save what is left of my sanity. Thank you. P.S. They served big, cheap hamburgers.

When I lived in Las Vegas in the late '70s, the Sahara was listed as Del Webb's Sahara and I believe there was also a property at Lake Tahoe bearing his name. Can you give some more insight and information on Del Webb's involvement with casinos?

I seem to recall Ed Sullivan hosting one of his Sunday night shows back in the day from Las Vegas. I think it was from Circus Circus. Am I dreaming?
