The smoking ban controversy: reader feedback.

Not a question, but a comment on QoD 5/31/07. You wrote, "Thousands of people have complained to the Health Department, which not only has no enforcement teeth (its agents are unarmed) ..." What would you have them do, shoot us smokers on sight? Maybe prison would be a good option- - "Whaddaya in for?" "Me? Smoking a cigarette." I always loved Vegas because it was one of the last true refuges for smokers. Guess I'm too un-PC. Maybe, with any luck, all us smokers will die off in a great mass extinction. That would make the rest of you real happy. Let freedom ring.

What's up downtown? My sister, a friend, and I were out late the other night and wanted to grab dinner around 10:30. It seems all the restaurants were closed ... last seating at 9 or 10 even in the casinos. Any suggestions for late-night sit-down grub downtown?

Why are we so hooked on slots?

It might be a little early, but is there any special events happening in Vegas the weekend when it will be 07-07-07 (July 7, 2007)?

Are there any local places in Las Vegas to rent a laptop computer for a week while I'm visiting and then return it before I leave town? If so, how much would such a rental cost?
