What's the latest news on the River Palms casino in Laughlin? I believe you noted last May that there was a new owner and it would be shut down indefinitely for remodel, etc. I would love to see them utilize the lower level as they once did. Used to be our favorite casino in Laughlin with the two floors of machines, until the owners decided (as they all do eventually) to ruin the place!

I know sometimes I forget my casino players card and have to get a new one printed. That said, how many players cards do the casinos print each year? How many are for "new" members and how many are "duplicates"?

Was trying to get to Vegas just to be in town for the big fight, until I saw some of the prices for that weekend... $400/night for the Golden Nugget? $267 a night for El Cortez [vintage room no less!]? Have you ever seen such prices like this before?

There is a Mazda car commercial (featuring Penn & Teller) that closes with one of their vehicles being driven down Fremont Street at night. Clearly, the street is shut down for normal business as no tourists or vendor kiosks are visible. What does it cost a company to "rent out" a block or two of Fremont to make such a commercial?

What's up out at Casino MonteLago on Lake Las Vegas? I always thought it was the best little casino around, although it never seemed to attract a loyal following. There were rumors that it would reopen last Fourth of July, then Labor Day, but nothing happened. Are you aware of any current or future plans?

Is downtown Las Vegas improving or getting worse? I recently read an article talking about the large influx of cash a developer sunk into the downtown area a year or two ago, and how the results have been less than promising. I visited Fremont Street last spring and the area certainly seemed crowded, but it actually felt seedier and less safe than it did a decade ago. What's your take?
