If someone banned themselves more than 10 years ago in their home state, which is not Nevada, and they are now going to Las Vegas with family, does the ban still hold up there? Would they be able to gamble there without trouble?

Many people today have concealed weapons permits, myself included. Is it legal to carry concealed handguns into Las Vegas casinos? If it’s not and you’re caught with one, what are the consequences?

I know Ellis Island and its "off-the-menu" steak diner have been a mainstay of your values list for a long time. But as a former local, I think I remember something else: Prior to 2001 (when I was living in Las Vegas) neighbors (who worked at various casinos) told me that from midnight to 8 a.m. any casino worker could drink for free at Ellis Island. I'm curious: Am I right about this? Does it still exist and does any other place make this offer?

Re: your recent news item, I didn't even know there was an Elvis exhibit downtown (never saw an ad.) Now it's leaving... Besides Trent Carlini and "Fat Elvis" (he's great), plus a guest spot in Legends at Flamingo, where's Elvis? When we started coming to Vegas in 2000 or so, he was everywhere. As the casino lounges disappeared in favor of trendy "clubs," so did he!

I recently visited Las Vegas with a friend from Massachusetts. He doesn't drive but he has a "Liquor ID," issued by the state of MA, which proves (in MA, at least!) that he's over 21. However, this was not accepted by Vegas casinos as proof of age, the stated reason being that this particular form of state-issued ID wasn't in "The Book". So, what is this "Book"? Is there a public listing of which IDs do qualify as proof-of-age in Nevada?

I just finished the book Johnny Carson by attorney Henry Bushkin. He refers to Phyllis McGuire’s home in Las Vegas as 65,000 square feet, with a 70-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower, and that it was the largest home in Las Vegas at that time (the late ’70s). Is the home still there and, if so, where is it located?
