We’ve been coming to Las Vegas for many years from south Florida, but this last trip was the first time we rented a car (to visit the Grand Canyon). We’ve seen the traffic cameras at major Las Vegas intersections over the years, but driving around, we noticed something we’d never noticed before, and that is that even at surveilled intersections, drivers went through yellow lights that turned red, one, two, even three at a time. In Florida, all the drivers would get traffic-violation citations in the mail. But here, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Or is it?

This addresses some regular queries we receive from readers of this column who haven't visited Las Vegas in awhile, or who are interested in relocating here, but we're particularly intrigued to hear the answers from the perspective of someone who knew Las Vegas intimately, then returned after an extended absence that happened to coincide with a some of the most seismic changes in the city's history, for better and worse. So, Deke, what's it like to be back?
