What ever happened to the "new" Star Trek Experience -- did they ever get any further with it downtown?

I recently wrote you asking, "Where did the King Tut Museum go?" I found it at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum downtown! So, now I must ask, what else did they remove from Luxor in 2008 to de-theme it, besides the "excavation site" at the buffet? What remains there that's Egyptian-themed (besides the Sphinx)?

We visited Las Vegas the last week of March and we knew about some of the halt of construction on the Strip. There used to be a character (I believe his last name was Johnson) who set up on the corner of Ft Apache and Sahara. He would entertain passing motorists and he had an unlimited supply of costumes and props. I have not seen him for over a year. Any idea what happened to him?

If the spa at the Palms has closed, what are their fitness center availabilities? That was one of the benefits of their resort fee, and was a very nice gym to use while staying there. Access was through the spa, so I am curious now!
