In regards to the QoD for June 15, 2010, you list gaming job swings in an number of states as a result of the depression. I could not help but notice that you left out Oklahoma. We have a large number of gaming locations including the third-largest casino in North America, WinStar. I just looked again, you left out Connecticut home of Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, and California with tons of card rooms. What gives?

I don’t play poker, so this might be a dumb question, but what is the origin of the title "Kill Phil"?

Any info on whether the slots in those trailer stations pay more/less/the same as "regular" casino machines or does it vary by operator? Do they have to have a certain level of patronage, or is the entitlement preserved even if no customers show up? Do they have to serve food or beverages? Just curious about a weird way of doing business …

Your recent QOD on the Key Largo sparked another question: You mentioned that they lost their unrestricted gaming license. I recall a couple of times over the past few years a trailer being set up for a day at a few different closed casinos to help keep their license, but haven't seen this in over a year. My recollection is that this had to be done annually, so whoever did it a couple of years ago seems to have wasted time. Have any trailer casinos been run in the last 12 months, and if so, where?

I was just reading about fine artworks & sculptures at Hoover Dam, commissioned by the Depression-era Public Works Administration and the Works Progress Administration. Are there any other notable remnants of these government programs, that put hundreds of thousands of people to work, left in the Las Vegas area that we can visit?

With the summer swelter due to start about now, what would be the average temperatures on the Strip during June, July & August - not the temperatures 'in the shade' but actually out in the sun? I'm wondering what 100+ temps REALLY mean, when not inside/shaded?

I hope this question isn’t too sensitive to answer, but here goes. I’ve been a big fan of Blair Rodman’s since reading his excellent book Kill Phil. I also liked his history of the World Series of Poker that you put up recently. But conspicuous in its absence is any mention of WSOP Main Event winner Russ Hamilton. I know that Russ has been the source of much bad press and ill will in poker of late, but he was the 25th-anniversary champion and, along with the first-place prize, was paid the value of his weight in silver. Anthony Curtis has made no secret of the fact that he and Russ are long-time friends, so I expected a lot more than nothing.
