On New Year's Eve 2007, a friend told me that people were turned away from casinos on the Strip, unless they had a room key or player's club card to the casino. Is that true, and, if so, why?

I was listening to NPR yesterday and a member of the Center for Gaming Research at UNLV stated that gaming was responsible for only 40% of the revenue in Las Vegas, but didn't go into detail as to what comprised the other 60%. Can you get the statistics on the contributing categories (hotel rooms, shows, restaurants, conventions, etc.)?

I remember the restaurant Dive by Spielberg on the Strip in front of the shopping mall. Do you have any further info on the joint, like photos and what was inside the place? Thanks!

In your answer to the question on 12/16/07, the one about whether Las Vegas should become the capital of Nevada, you set up (as you sometimes do) another question, so I’ll be the one to ask it. How was Carson City "indisputably destined" to become the capital of Nevada?

I seem to remember that back in the '80s (?) there was a TV gameshow based on the game of blackjack, but I don't recall its name. Does that ring any bells with you?

I have a slightly odd question for you. I tend to get rooms with nice views. A lot of times, though, the windows have a spotty layer of dirt on the outside, which detracts from picture quality. Do the hotels clean their windows from the outside? If so, how often?

I'm a Brit and flying over for my annual visit in March. Where is the best beer in town? Since the Monte Carlo did the unthinkable and ceased production at its own microbrewery (and got rid of its USP in the process -- crazy), for the most part, the beer I've found available in town has been the mass-produced variety from the larger breweries (which, apart from Sam Adams, I don't really like -- I tend to prefer darker beers). I went to Chicago and Toronto a few years ago and found some interesting American micro beers, including my two all-time favorites, Rogue Dead Guy and Flying Dog Cruiser. It would be great to find these in Vegas. Can I?

A Las Vegas friend just told me that Siegfried and Roy were going to start performing again. Can you shed some light on this rumor?

What's the difference between baccarat and chemin de fer, as it's played in Europe?

What was the story behind the Old Vegas amusement park in Henderson? When did it open and close? Also, what is on that site now? I understand that a small part of Viva Las Vegas and some "Gunsmoke" episodes were filmed there. Also, they had a small steam locomotive train and tracks set up there too. Just curious if you could provide any more info on this. Thanks.
