I remember there used to be a million dollars on display at the Horseshoe. Why is it not there any more?

My husband & I are huge fans of Commander's Palace (specifically for lunch -- what a deal!). In gearing up for our yearly Vegas vacation at the end of June, we visited their website, only to find out that the Vegas location had closed. We read some of the speculations in various forums, but wondered what really happened for them to leave a prime location ... and more importantly, when (and where!) will they be returning?

I made my first trip to Vegas in 1992. So far as I can remember, casinos have been issuing W-2Gs for machine wins of $1,200 or more since that time. Is there any movement afoot in Washington to raise that limit? It would seem that it might be considered just simply due to the annual inflation rate over the past 15-20 years.

I'll be in Las Vegas over the 4th of July and would like to know what kind of fireworks displays can I expect to see from the casinos? Or ... as someone who loves this country, are there any special 4th of July events happening in Las Vegas?

I live in Las Vegas, and from time to time book hotel rooms for friends, or relatives. It seems quite a few hotels have extra fees that are collected at check-in, and are not included in the room rate. Hotels will call these charges "resort fees," "energy surcharges," etc. Can you please list the hotels that have such fees, and the amounts please?

With the North Strip booming, will the Jolly Trolley make a comeback?

Not a question, but a comment on QoD 5/31/07. You wrote, "Thousands of people have complained to the Health Department, which not only has no enforcement teeth (its agents are unarmed) ..." What would you have them do, shoot us smokers on sight? Maybe prison would be a good option- - "Whaddaya in for?" "Me? Smoking a cigarette." I always loved Vegas because it was one of the last true refuges for smokers. Guess I'm too un-PC. Maybe, with any luck, all us smokers will die off in a great mass extinction. That would make the rest of you real happy. Let freedom ring.
