You recently wrote that property taxes are being paid on the stagnant Fountainebleu. Since Carl Icahn purchased the property in 2010 and he's trying to sell it, how much has he paid so far in property taxes?

What ever happened regarding the federal proposal that winnings be reported to the IRS (and that W-2Gs be given to the gambler) for changes to the amount won from slots and keno? I realize that the threshold hadn't been increased since 1977, and I'm sure that both gamblers and casinos were incensed at the proposal. If something new has been implemented, what is it?

During the early '90s, I vaguely remember the Mount Charleston Hotel being shut down (seized by the Feds?) Am I imagining this or did it happen?

How would the average person go about buying stock in a casino corporation (in my case, Boyd, since I'm loyal to their casinos and hotels)? I'm guessing there are ways to buy without exorbitant broker fees ... Any advice?

What's the status of the IRS initiative to force casinos to issue W-2Gs for $600+ slot jackpots instead of $1,200+ (as they do now)? Is there anything we as players can do to voice our displeasure and help prevent this from happening?

I heard that the IRS is going to start requiring casinos to issue players a W-2G when they hit a jackpot over $600 on a slot machine instead of over $1,200 like they do now. That is crazy. I'd always heard that they needed to raise that threshold, which was set back in the '70s, not lower it.

I have been gambling for years, usually posting a loss or small win for the year. I retired this year and what a difference to the calculations! Now re Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI), I have to include the total amount of wins as income on the first page of the IRS form, which raises the AGI, even though I was a loser for the year - I don’t get to subtract the loss. I have spoken with a CPA and she states that yes, it’s true. This grossly inflates our AGI and increases our tax rate. Would love to hear Jean Scott’s take on this.

A group of creditors sent Caesars a notice of default. In an abundance of caution, this newsletter again advises you not to deposit any funds (no deposits for hotel reservations, no deposits at the cashier’s cage, no delay on redeeming casino chips, etc.), in the following Caesars' hotels, until the situation at Caesars again becomes clearer: Bally’s, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, Rio, and The Cromwell. Any additional info from your end?
