Are there royalties involved when actual landmark hotel and casino names are referenced in fiction, or can one use these places as a setting free of charge?

I was out in Vegas one and a half years ago. The north end of the Strip seemed dark, empty and dangerous. The big fence between the Riviera and Slots-A-Fun was new and the Riviera looked dark or closed. There were police everywhere. What is it like now? Is it safe?

There was a headline in today's paper that read McCarran air passenger traffic up ... that got me to wondering how many people are employed at the airport? I thought I heard about five years ago another airport was being planned to replace McCarran ... anything to that rumor?

What is going to happen in Indian Springs? The casino-hotel gas station and RV park are now sold to the base. Rumor has it that a new complex will be built across the street somewhere. Is this true? I stayed at the RV park and played the casino while visiting my sister in Cold Springs. I'd like to do it again.
