My husband and I are here in Las Vegas this week for our 5th anniversary (married at the Little Chapel of the Flowers) and it has pretty much rained since we arrived on the 10th. It's a bit scary what with flash floods and huge lightning and all, but still an amazing display of the power of nature. My question - is this weather normal for the season? How often DOES it rain, and how many days in a row? What do locals do during storms? In the northeast, we don't really do any thing different except avoid 'puddling', not flash floods.

I just returned home from Las Vegas and realized I did not purchase enough gifts for my friends. I thought it would be simple to just jump online and purchase a few MGM Grand T-shirts. However, I have discovered it is impossible to purchase gifts from the casinos' gift shops online. This surprised me because you would think the casinos would benefit from both the revenue generated and the additional advertising from getting their logo out in the public eye. Why can't I buy a casino-branded t-shirt online?

What is going on at Koval and Harmon? I thought a new casino, resort etc. was going to be built. It has been an eyesore for years.

While staying at the Mandalay Bay last week, we had a room that faced McCarran International Airport. At the corner of the Strip and Hacienda Avenue we saw from our room what looked like a large yellow star or compass painted on the ground. Do you have any idea what it is and its purpose?
