What’s up with the Crystals mall in CityCenter. We were there a few weeks ago and the place was half-empty. Didn’t it open a year ago? Is it still a sign of the times that an upscale mall is struggling.

The Las Vegas Weekly used to rule the free newsweekly market, based upon ad pages, with City Life following far behind. The relative newcomer, Seven, seems to be the dominant force now, with more advertising pages, and more color ads, than the other two weeklies put together. Who is behind Seven, and how did the magazine come to dominate the market in so short a span of time?

In the D Concourse in Las Vegas McCarran Airport, there were some really cool sculptures that appeared to come out of the floor, like a scorpion. When I flew in the week of Nov. 16, 2009, they were gone. What happened to them? Can we see them somewhere else?

With the current epidemic of bedbugs prevailing in this country, what steps are the hotels taking to ensure that they are bedbug-free (and remain bedbug-free)? And what are the hotels doing when guests report such instances? What compensation are they providing to their guests who may not have discovered the problem with bedbugs until they returned home? Do the hotels use bedbug-sniffing dogs to find any bedbugs and then take the necessary steps to eradicate them? Along the same lines, how often do hotels changes the mattresses? Are there laws governing the frequency of changing the mattresses? I would think if the mattress was bedbug infested, it would be changed, but I am also interested in the "normal" frequency of change. And with the high number of hotel rooms, what happens to the mattresses once they are removed, since the number of mattresses is significant in each hotel.

A year or so ago, The Bellagio Conservatory was decorated with a 100-year-plus Banyan tree that had been moved from Florida. I know the tree had died, but it was very beautiful. What happened to the tree after the Bellagio was done with it? Did it hit the wood chipper?
