You reported in the LVA some months back that Tesco, the British supermarket chain, is coming to Las Vegas. When is that going to happen and what will the stores be like?

Is the north end of the Strip exploding or what? Stratosphere sold. Sahara sold. Vacant El Rancho Vegas lot sold. Echelon Place breaking ground. Fontainebleau rising. Encore rising. Palazzo almost finished. What more can happen?

I thought smoking wasn’t allowed in bars in Las Vegas, but when I walked into one on my last trip, two people were smoking cigarettes and one was puffing on a cigar! There was even a no-smoking sign on the door. What gives?

In a recent answer, you noted that access to the Hard Rock pool is $20 for day use. The Hard Rock pool has swim-up blackjack. I thought Nevada Gaming Regulations prevented charging for access to a gaming table. I know there was a regulation change for the Playboy Club. Does this regulation change mean that everyone (Hard Rock included) can put tables in exclusive areas or do you need a Gaming Control waiver?

How do you handle living in a place where every day of summer the temperature is in triple digits?

After spending a couple of days in a hotel with less than working air conditioning, it occurred to me that a/c might have something to do with the rise of Vegas. I can't imagine those wool suits being any fun in 104 degrees. When did the first hotel have a/c? Did it cost extra?

My friend was cleaning out his closet the other day and found four $500 chips from the Landmark Hotel & Casino, formerly located in Las Vegas. Can you tell us the story behind the casino (was there some type of fraud going on with the place?) ... and most importantly, can we still cash those chips? What is on the Landmark site today?

How many pounds of shrimp does the Golden Gate go through per day?
