How many water-propelling devices are used in the water show at Bellagio? And how many different kinds are there?
The total number of nozzles used in the fountain show at Bellagio is 1,214, up from 1,198 when the show was first introduced in 1998 (on the same night that Bellagio opened).
There are four kinds. "Oarsmen" can rotate 360 degrees and spray water up to 77 feet high; there are 208 of those. Nearly 800 "minishooters" can launch streams of water up to 100 feet high. Nearly 200 "super-shooters" can blast jets of water up to 240 feet in the air. And 16 "extreme shooters," added in 2005, can propel water as high as a 40-story building.
Here are some other facts about the lake, while we're on the subject. It occupies 8.5 acres, measuring 1,200 feet long and by 600 feet wide. It's between 4 to 13 feet deep and contains 22 million gallons of water, which needed 21 days to completely fill, using mostly well water that had been dedicated to the Dunes golf course. (Bellagio is built on the part of the golf course acreage.)
At night, 4,792 underwater lights illuminate the fountains (which look especially cool from a Strip sightseeing helicopter, if you're feeling extravagant).
The attraction took three years to complete and cost $40 million, making it one of the most expensive fountains in the world. It's also the sixth most photographed attraction in the U.S., at least according to Thrillist in a 2014 survey.
