Of the limited number of buffets left in Vegas, what’s the best? In my mind, “best” means they have shrimp and crab and, beyond that, variety. What do you think?
Wow. This is the first best-buffet question we've received since the start of the pandemic. Apparently, the Las Vegas buffet is no longer on most people's minds. We'll endeavor to answer and depending on the comments, maybe we'll run a poll. Let us know if we should.
To us, the best high-end buffet in Las Vegas is the all-you-can-eat-lobster-and-crab nights (Wednesdays and Thursdays) at the Palms. All the top buffets have shrimp and crab, including the Palms AYCE, but it's the only one with unlimited lobster, both whole and tail. And with the LVA Member Rewards Online 2-for-1 or 50%-off coupon, it's a no-brainer for value -- $79.99 plus tax and tip for two or $40 for one.
We also really like the South Point seafood buffet, served every Friday night for $48.95 with club card. We reviewed it in the December 2023 LVA and described the lineup of delicacies from the sea: steamed cracked crab legs, cold Dungeness crab claws, cold cracked snow crab legs, peel-and-eat and fried shrimp and shrimp ceviche, plus three kinds of salmon, oysters Rockefeller, clams, and on and on. The line to get in is ferocious, at least it was the last time we looked, but worth the wait once you're in and seining and trawling for seafood.
Otherwise, we can also recommend the Wicked Spoon Buffet at the Cosmopolitan. This is brunch, so it's less expensive ($49 weekdays, $54 weekends) than the fancy dinner spreads, but with no less variety, quality, or quantity. We posted a guest review in April, which shows peel-and-eat and large spicy prawns, crab legs, and all kinds of other goodies.
We're less enthusiastic about the Bellagio brunch ($54.99) and weekend dinner ($79.99); for the same price as the dinner buffet, though no coupon and $25 to park, you can do so much better at the Palms.
We did, however, like the Wynn Buffet brunch when we reviewed it in the May 2022 issue, but it's very different -- and much more expensive -- today. Brunch is $64.99 and the daily seafood dinner, with mounds of shrimp, shrimp cocktail, cracked king crab legs, and lobster, is $79.99.
That leaves the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars, with weekday dinner and a weekend crab brunch ($86.99) and weekend dinner ($91.99). We haven't tried it recently enough to comment, but maybe someone out there in QoDLand has. We can say it's by far the most expensive dinner buffet in Las Vegas.
So how about it? What do youse guys say is the best of the best buffets in Las Vegas?
