Question of the Day - 28 July 2025

Q:

Of the limited number of buffets left in Vegas, what’s the best? In my mind, “best” means they have shrimp and crab and, beyond that, variety. What do you think?

A:

Wow. This is the first best-buffet question we've received since the start of the pandemic. Apparently, the Las Vegas buffet is no longer on most people's minds. We'll endeavor to answer and depending on the comments, maybe we'll run a poll. Let us know if we should.

To us, the best high-end buffet in Las Vegas is the all-you-can-eat-lobster-and-crab nights (Wednesdays and Thursdays) at the Palms. All the top buffets have shrimp and crab, including the Palms AYCE, but it's the only one with unlimited lobster, both whole and tail. And with the LVA Member Rewards Online 2-for-1 or 50%-off coupon, it's a no-brainer for value -- $79.99 plus tax and tip for two or $40 for one.

We also really like the South Point seafood buffet, served every Friday night for $48.95 with club card. We reviewed it in the December 2023 LVA and described the lineup of delicacies from the sea: steamed cracked crab legs, cold Dungeness crab claws, cold cracked snow crab legs, peel-and-eat and fried shrimp and shrimp ceviche, plus three kinds of salmon, oysters Rockefeller, clams, and on and on. The line to get in is ferocious, at least it was the last time we looked, but worth the wait once you're in and seining and trawling for seafood.

Otherwise, we can also recommend the Wicked Spoon Buffet at the Cosmopolitan. This is brunch, so it's less expensive ($49 weekdays, $54 weekends) than the fancy dinner spreads, but with no less variety, quality, or quantity. We posted a guest review in April, which shows peel-and-eat and large spicy prawns, crab legs, and all kinds of other goodies.

We're less enthusiastic about the Bellagio brunch ($54.99) and weekend dinner ($79.99); for the same price as the dinner buffet, though no coupon and $25 to park, you can do so much better at the Palms.

We did, however, like the Wynn Buffet brunch when we reviewed it in the May 2022 issue, but it's very different -- and much more expensive -- today. Brunch is $64.99 and the daily seafood dinner, with mounds of shrimp, shrimp cocktail, cracked king crab legs, and lobster, is $79.99.

That leaves the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars, with weekday dinner and a weekend crab brunch ($86.99) and weekend dinner ($91.99). We haven't tried it recently enough to comment, but maybe someone out there in QoDLand has. We can say it's by far the most expensive dinner buffet in Las Vegas.

So how about it? What do youse guys say is the best of the best buffets in Las Vegas?

Bring back the Bacchanal LVA coupon
I really miss the MRB coupon that got a discount to the Bacchanal brunch. Bring it back along with the South Point breakfast buffet coupon.

    Best buffet
For the money South point is the best. Their seafood buffet also comes with tickets for two glasses of wine. The fun part is that many people may not drink the wine so they will give their tickets to other people who may or may not use them and they will pass them on. It is not uncommon to see some with a bunch of tickets who give them to others as they leave . The dinner is good but the atmosphere is great to see people giving the wine tickets to others.

So in addition to a good dinner it is a fun atmosphere.

    Buffet
I like Caesars buffet as #1 for one reason only, it is comped. If I have to pay, it would be #4. First is Palms, then Wynn, then Cosmo, then Caesars. Do not do much buffeting (did I get that right) anymore, as I do not eat that much (gotta stay trim in my old age). Now I have a slice of Pizza, and I am full, LOL.

    Buffet
What about people who do not like sea-food ?? Your whole opinion is based upon it .. you did not talk about desserts and you did not mention the long long line for the very disorganized Palms buffet.

    Buffets
For food quality the Wynn followed by the Palms is top two, For price and value SouthPoint and the Palms. Also do not forget about the Rampart buffet which is also very good for quality and price.

    I miss Suncoast
Bring back the Suncoast Buffet coupon. And then bring back the Suncoast Buffet! (You have to expect some requests to be harder than others!)

  • rodfan Jul-28-2025
    Wynn
The Palms is good, but Wynn is best!

I also don't eat seafood but the question was strictly on seafood. Perhaps put in your own question on desserts, meats, etc. I won't waste almost $100 on the Caesars buffet so I no longer consider a buffet as a meal choice when I go to LV. (I wouldn't mind trying South Point but I've never gone there, it's never on my itinerary.)

    i meant
$100 comp. For sure I wouldn't spend a Benjamin on the Caesars buffet. I went once when it first opened. I'm done.

I agree the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars is not worth it. If you base the best buffet on quality it's the Wynn Buffet.

    Our opinion
We just went in July to the Bacchanal and it was really really good and for the money. The number of options you get between Italian, Seafood Salad, Asian Mexican, the carving station and all of the desserts. It's worth the money. Palms is great if all you want is seafood, but some of us prefer other options so we think Bacchanal

    Buffet
The buffet at the Rampart deserves mentioning to. It has a good selection of food at a reasonable price. I'm not sure about the seafood, I steer clear of most seafood.

  • Fumb Duck Jul-28-2025
    Rampart
I haven't been to LV for a few years, but when I was there I really liked the Rampart. Thursdays was deli night which my friends and I really enjoyed.

    Too expensive
I’ve eaten at the Bacchanal buffet for the last 5 years when I make my yearly trip to Las Vegas and it is wonderful. However, the cost keeps going up and I won’t be going again. It’s not worth $100. The Palms seafood buffet is a much better value. Southpoint is also a good value for those looking for a low cost option. I haven’t been to Wicked Spoon buffet in four years because I got food poisoning on my last visit there and it ruined my whole vacation.

    In the end.....
if you spend a little or you spend a lot, the thing with buffets is that, in the end, they ALL end up the same.

  • Kevin Rough Jul-28-2025
    Wynn
Wynn is by far the best buffet in Vegas. However some people here might not be willing to pony up that kind of cash. I've never done the Palms lobster night since you need reservations which I can never seem to obtain.

    Solo-The Palms-Is a No No
Having to make a reservation at the Palms is almost impossible, even with the coupon. I tried a couple of times and the availability is not there for a solo reservation. The reservation has to be made online and I tried several months ahead of my scheduled trip. I have not been successful in using my LVA coupon there for 3 straight years. Any suggestions for making it happen. I would appreciate it.

    Variety is key
I never have more than two, or three plates - total.

    AYCE The Palms
My wife and I ate at the AYCE at the Palms on Friday (Prime Rib & Crab Legs). It was very good and worth doing with the LVA coupon but I would never pay $53. The crab legs were like tooth picks. So we didnt even have any, the other foods were good especially the smoked meats station along with the salads and sweets. I guess I dont see it with the buffets, we can go to a nice restaurant off strip and get good steak and seafood for $75 to $100 but with very nice atmosphere and get waited on. To each their own but that is our take on it.

    I miss....
Years back when Harrahs/Caesars had a 24 hour special to hit as many of their buffets as you could (Buffet of Buffets?). Timing it properly set you up for 3 solid meals. It was a fun game to try to time it all out. I also miss the buffet at Planet Hollywood it was the best we thought for the price point. Nowadays I think only the AYCE seafood deal at Palms sounds like something to target for a Wed or Thurs with the LVA coupon deal. With the caveat....."be careful eating fish in the desert". :P
