What sport books are taking bets on the 2020 president election and when?
We've been getting this question a lot lately, so we figured today, off-Election Day 2019, is the perfect time to say that no sports books in Nevada or the U.S. that we know of are booking or even can book bets on the presidential election, which is a year from today (actually, Tuesday November 3, 2020).
However, betting on political events is big business in other countries and at online sports books. Election bets are huge in the U.K., for example, with most bookies posting odds and taking bets on who'll win the Democratic Party's nomination, whether or not Trump will be the Republican nominee, be impeached, and be re-elected, and which party will win the presidential election.
You can track these odds/bets at oddsshark.com, but as you probably know, depositing, betting, and withdrawing money from offshore sports books is illegal in the U.S. Many offshore bookies don't allow U.S. IP addresses even to access their sites. There are various workarounds to this situation, but those are beyond the scope of this answer.
Predictit.org allows for small bets on a variety of political events --- limited to $850 per market. There are often correlated bets available, so if you want to bet for (or against) Trump or any other candidate, there are a variety of ways to do it. Since they are sponsors of the "Gambling with an Edge" podcast, you can sign up for a $20 match offer at predictit.org/promo/edge Limited to once per person, you must play the money through once, and you must wait at least 30 days before withdrawal
