It appears as though both Westgate and Circa are claiming to have the world’s largest sports book. You can find their claims on their websites. What’s the real story? If one truly is larger, I would think they would have an issue with the other’s claim.
Our wisdom is far from Solomonic, so we've split this particular baby with difficulty.
Despite our very specific queries, Circa was rather vague in its answers, so we can't definitely award an accolade. But here are the particulars.
Circa’s video wall is 78 million pixels. Westgate’s is 65 million pixels and covers 4,000 square feet. Circa hasn't given out the square footage of its display, at least that we could find. Still, Advantage: Circa.
Westgate has 19 walk-up betting windows and no self-service kiosks, although some might be added. Circa wouldn’t say. Advantage: Westgate.
Square footage: Westgate's sports book is 30,000 square feet. Circa doesn’t say. Advantage: Westgate.
Seating capacity: Westgate’s book has room for 380 tuchases, Circa’s for 1,000, in three stadium-style tiers. Advantage: Circa.
Dining options: Westgate has an attached restaurant, which sports book supremo Jay Kornegay describes as “great real estate to watch sports.” Circa has catering by Victory Burger & Wings Co. and Project BBQ. Advantage: draw.
Smoking: Circa permits it. Westgate doesn’t. Advantage: Westgate.
Westgate also offers a dedicated area for horse racing, each seat coming with its own TV set, plus interactive terminals which allow bets to be placed from one’s seat.
Although Circa fudges some of the metrics behind its claim, it appears to take the palm for preponderance. However, we think that for a variety of amenities and the absence of smoking, Westgate would be our choice. But that’s ultimately up to you.
