Rumor-mill control: Wikipedia says 81 hotel rooms (out of a previous 366) at Binion’s will be reopening in 2019. Any truth to that?
Yes there is.
Binion's announced early last February that it will open 81 of its 366 rooms to serve as a boutique hotel-within-a-hotel dubbed "Apache Hotel at Binion’s."
The rooms will feature retro furniture and decor from the 1930s, with a nod to the actual Hotel Apache, which opened in 1932 on the site.
In addition, a 6,500-square-foot bar, Whiskey Likker Up, will reopen the second floor above the casino, which has been closed for several years; it will be directly above the existing Whiskey Likker Bar. The new venue will seat a couple dozen and boast a dance floor, mechanical bull, and a bar that rotates 360 degrees every 15 minutes.
The rooms open on August 14 and Binion's is taking reservations: $99 Sun.-Thurs. and $199 Fri. and Sat.; the bar is slated for completion "by summer," which gives them another few weeks for Whiskey Likker Up's debut.
And here's the link to the results from the poll on the most influential Las Vegan.
