Question of the Day - 23 September 2025

Q:

Any update on how the Boring Company is doing on their Vegas project?

A:

The Boring Company hit a couple of new milestones over the past few months.

First, a new tunnel was dug under the Strip, the second time that's been done. The first was completed in 2022 connecting the Convention Center and Resorts World. The new one runs from the north side of the Wynn Golf course to the southeast corner of the old Frontier property, now known as Wynn West; eventually, it will connect Wynn/Encore and Caesars Palace. A tunnel has also been completed between the Convention Center and Encore and that station is being readied to open soon.

And the first of two tunnels running under Paradise Road from Westgate to Tropicana Avenue is "close to emerging" at Westgate, having started at the southern terminus. The second tunnel "isn't too far behind," according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. These two tunnels are the first of what's planned to become the University Center Loop, which will include a station at Virgin, two north of Flamingo Road that will serve Sphere, and ultimately extend all the way to the airport.

All told, the Vegas Loop now consists of 3.5 miles of tunnels in operation, with three stations at the Convention Center and one each at Resorts World, Encore, and Westgate. When fully built out in a decade or two, the Loop is planned to boast 68 miles of tunnels and 104 stations.

Is there a map of the tunnels available somewhere?

Must be a job as I would think there would be underground pipes(gas /water/sewer) & wiring to deal with

    Time line
Do they have a timeline for when service will begin from the airport to downtown? They list the fare as $12 and the distance as 7.7 miles. I should live so long. At the rate they are going, maybe 2040?

    Utilities
The Vegas Loop tunnels are 30-40 feet below the surface, clear of any underground utilities.
