When Palace Station was first being renovated, they mentioned the addition of a bowling alley, but construction appears to be complete. What happened to bowling there?
We had a lovely chat with Michelle St. Angelo of Station Casinos, who says that a bowling alley was never in the stars for Palace Station. What Station did add during the big renovation was a cineplex, called Cinebarre, operated by Knoxville-based Regal. The theater doesn’t stint on luxuries: It offers restaurant-style food and cocktails, delivered to your seat. There’s also a lounge where you can shoot pool.
However …
Palace Station’s “three-phase upgrade” did foresee “a small bowling alley” called Splits, along with a new hotel tower and swimming pool. An enlarged bingo hall and buffet were also on the to-do list. The Charcoal Room (steak) and Oyster Bar were to be relocated onto the ground floor of the new hotel, as well as “another dining newcomer.” Given the elaborate nature of Cinebarre, it may have subsumed the space intended for bowling.
A story in the Las Vegas Business Press is revealing. Then-company spokeswoman Lori Nelson-Kraft is quoted as saying, “The approvals we are seeking contemplate potential future phases that may include new hotel rooms, meeting and convention space and a potential bowling alley and/or movie theater.” [Emphasis added]
“But there’s no definite plan to proceed on that phase yet,” wrote reporter Jeffrey Meehan.
Note that the bowling was an option for the same space as the movie theater, not a done deal. Nelson-Kraft said that such plans were subject to “timing and feasibility.” So either the bowling alley was not feasible or won’t be built at this time.
