Question of the Day - 13 October 2017

Q:

Thank you for your answer about Easy Jack. I understand that the house has a small advantage over the player, a little less than 1%. Assuming someone with a much better math brain than me has done the study, has anyone developed a system to beat the house?

A:

In case you missed the original answer (9/25), Easy Jack is blackjack played with one dealt card instead of two, with the goal of getting as close to 11 as possible; 12 and above is a bust. An optional secondary wager can be placed before the hand is dealt on whether the dealer will bust. The dealer hits on six or less and stands on seven or more. A natural 11 (the ace) pays 3-to-2. A two-card dealer bust pays 3-to-1; the more cards the dealer draws before busting, the bigger the payout (two cards pay 3 up to six cards pay 500). All ties push. There’s no doubling or (obviously) splitting.

We turned to Michael Shackleford, the Wizard of Odds, who did the following analysis.

“This game is blackjack where both parties start out with a ten. If using the Hi-Lo, I would stand on six in any positive count and stand on 5 with a true count of +4 or more. I'm just taking these numbers from the Hi-Lo for a 15/16 vs. dealer 10.”

Mike goes on to say, “For those thinking of devising a count tailor-made for this game, here is the effect of removal for each card in an eight-deck game” (which Easy Jack uses):

Is there any news on when Canter's Deli in the Linq promenade is opening? The "opening soon" signs have been up for months.
