Regarding casino tickets that will expire during this month or the month of April. How long will they be redeemable when the casinos open? I sure hope they will be honored.
We’re not sure if you’re asking about sports betting tickets or TITO (ticket-in ticket-out) vouchers, so we’ll address both. But first we’ll state that the casinos will most likely honor just about anything that may have expired during this period. It’ll take some effort to bring things back up to speed when they're allowed to reopen and denying a payout isn’t a good strategy for that.
Sports book tickets will probably be cashed beyond the expiration date, but there’s no reason to even risk that they won’t. Winning sports tickets can be mailed in for redemption. Take a picture for backup then, mail it to the casino according to the instructions on the back of the ticket. They may not get to it for a while, but then again it might be handled quickly. We've heard some sports book representatives on VSiN this week saying that they currently have staff processing tickets that are mailed in. Either way, you’ll eventually get a check in the mail. For more discussion on this topic, see Blair Rodman's blog "Virus Sports Suspensions -- How Do They Affect Your Bets."
As for TITO tickets, there’s almost no chance a late redemption will be denied. The casinos were very good about cashing expired vouchers even before this crisis and there’s no reason to change that policy now. No guarantees, but you should be fine if you present a ticket for redemption anytime this year, and even beyond. Bring the ticket on your next trip and you're a big favorite to get paid.
