Did Charlie Palmer Steak at the Four Seasons ever reopen?
And
A stock tout sent me a message that Casino Royale was soon going to be redeveloped. Is this true?
Charlie Palmer Steak, the fancy restaurant in the Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay, closed for the pandemic shutdown, along with everything else in Las Vegas. Sad to say, it never reopened and has sat dark and gloomy ever since. (We liked it for its expansive bathrooms; the stalls are completely walled in with regular bedroom doors.)
A new restaurant by Michael Mina has been announced to take over the space. Bourbon Steak will be the Mina brand's ninth location; the others are in New York, Scottsdale, Miami, Nashville, Washington, D.C., Seattle, and two in southern California. Very fancy, with steaks from $53 to $195, seafood $42-$64, and sides $15-$18.
Second, in early August, it was reported that the Federal Aviation Administration approved a 699-foot tower for the site currently occupied by distinctly low-rise Casino Royale, which sits next to Harrah's to the south. One insider also cited information from employees at Casino Royale's Outback Steakhouse that the restaurant "will be closing."
Of course (for anyone who knows how media averse the Elardi family, owners of Casino Royale, are), no official announcement was made then or has been been made since about a closure or who might be applying to build a 70-story tower on the property, so it remains unclear whether this little Strip oasis' days are numbered or not. And though FAA approval isn't binding, the Elardi's have until Jan. 21, 2025, to build their tower; that's the date when the approval expires.
