In your recent Question of the Day about tourism, you mentioned that “Circa” is coming to downtown. What is Circa?
Circa is the name of the long-anticipated megaresort being built on a one-full-block parcel on Fremont Street between Main and First, on the site of the former Las Vegas Club, Girls of Glitter Gulch, and Mermaids Casino, all of which were demolished in 2017.
Meant to honor Las Vegas eras gone by ("circa 1940, circa 1960, circa 1990"), the Strip-style megaresort will occupy 1.25 million square feet, with 777 rooms in a 44-story tower. It will also house a two-level casino, five restaurants to be revealed later, the longest outdoor bar on Fremont Street, and a new nine-story 1,200-space parking garage (nicknamed “Garage Mahal”) with a pedestrian-bridge connection.
The tri-level sports book will be the largest in Las Vegas, with the "biggest screen in sports book history."
The pool area will be multi-tiered, creating an amphitheater effect; all tiers will have a view of a 125-foot-tall video screen for pool events and team watch parties.
The neon cowgirl, Vegas Vickie, which for decades graced the front of Girls of Glitter Gulch, will be incorporated into the lobby design.
Construction started in February, with a grand opening sometime in December 2020.
