Question of the Day - 11 January 2018

Q:

If I'm fishing Lake Mead and catch something, are there any area restaurants where I can take my catch/fillets where the kitchen will prepare and serve it for me?

A:

We know about restaurants in Alaska and the Florida Keys, especially Key West, that cook your catch, and Bahrs Landing, a renowned landmark on the Jersey Shore and one of the oldest continuously operated family restaurants in the country, has been cooking the catch from charters in its kitchen for 100 years.

Other restaurant locations we found that cook your catch include various other places in Florida (particularly Destin and the Naples/Ft. Meyers area); Corpus Christi, Tex.; the Mississippi Gulf Coast; Montauk, Long Island; and San Diego.

Unfortunately, there are no restaurants around Lake Mead or in Las Vegas that’ll do the honors for you. We called three fishing charter companies, Captain Jack’s in Boulder City and American Angler and Las Vegas Fishing Guides in Henderson, and asked the reps there if they knew of any. Two told us that a restaurant at one of the Lake Mead marinas used to cook your catch, but it closed when the owner passed away.

One suggested that you rent a houseboat on the lake, where you can fish, sleep, and prepare you freshly caught fish for dinner.
