Question of the Day - 23 April 2020

Q:

What happens to our coupon books that you get with the Las Vegas Advisor now that the casinos are closed?

A:

So far, nothing.

Obviously, since the casinos are closed, there's no possibility of redeeming any coupons.

What about after they reopen? We don't know for sure, but we have no reason to believe that they won't be honored. The big caveat is whether or not the venue or attraction itself survives the shutdown. Naturally, a 2-for-1 coupon to a buffet or show that doesn't reopen will be void. But we have no way of knowing how many coupons will suffer that unfortunate fate.

With regard to our refund policy, as of now it remains the same as always. If you return your unused MRB, or haven't picked it up yet, and want to cancel, we'll refund 100% of your membership payment (not including MRB mailing fees).

Was lucky. I got the opportunity to use several coupons prior to the closing so the cost of the MRB has already pretty much paid for itself. As thebeachbum said we will use ours once things open back up. There are also several coupons that are for items not in the casinos and these might be used during the shut down.

    Vegas after reopening
I'm hoping there will be lots of "Welcome Back" attitude by the casinos and hotels, that they will be easy-going about things when it comes to expired coupons, slot club points and hotel offers. But all that involves *money* so it will probably vary from one place to the next. We'll see.

    Supportive member
We just renewed our membership when this whole thing blew up in our faces. We have been members since mid 1990s. I discussed it with my wife and we both felt we wanted to support Las Vegas Advisor through this whole mess even though we may not make it there this year! They are a small business that has given us great deals and gambling advise that has saved us a lot of $$ in those many years. Please keep your memberships so when we do get back on track they are here to support all of us again.

    What you are not understanding
The death toll will reach 80,000 by the end of April. Trump will extend the shut down to the end of May, by then the death toll will exceed 600,000. What do you think will happen then? Quit deceiving yourselves, it ain't over till the man with the black robes and scythe says it's over.

    No Refund Here
Even if I weren't able to get to Las Vegas this year, or any year, I'd never ask for a refund. I get far more from this site and newsletter than I could ever pay for. To be honest, year after year I'm amazed that the price has never gone up. You're very efficient with your budget! I'm grateful for this wonderful publication and website.

    These Things Happen
I was lukcky to use some in January. I am sure the deals will overshadow the coupons, like in mid-September 2011 when you could take a Limo from MGM to Downtown for $25. I've saved $$$ for years and I'll save again. Not a crisis. Getting the 325,000+ hotel workers back to work is the priority.

keep my $35. It's worth a lot more than that to me for what I have received for years

    Refund, No Way
Not only will I not ask for a refund if I can’t use the book this year, I will send it back so you can sell it again. Thank you LVA.

    No to refund
I will not ask for one I have two books. I am not going to go this year even if they reopen. I am high risk and I do not know when I will get back to Vegas. But I also support small businesses. I will buy it again next year as well. It also gives me hope that someday I will get back to Vegas

Now that casinos are opening back up...
Are casinos going to be accepting MRB coupons as they struggle to become profitable again, and is it even appropriate to use the coupons if they are accepting them? Something I've been thinking about... I have a coupon for a free sub at Jersey Mike's, but I've been holding off on using it for that reason.
