We are really trying to visit, but our state (New York) makes it very difficult. The state wants a COVID test completed before returning home. Is there a testing location on the Strip that offers these tests for low or no cost? It would seem that this is a common problem.
We ran this past Stephanie Bethel of the Southern Nevada Health District and she provided this guide to SNHD-approved coronavirus testing sites:
https://covid.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/testing/. The nearest to the Strip is the Stan Fulton Building on the northwest corner of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas campus, on Flamingo Road.
“There might be some private testing sites available as well,” she adds.
Resorts like The Venetian and Wynn Las Vegas have done large-scale, on-site testing, but that is strictly for employees. Our best advice is to hop a cab or bus to the Stan Fulton Building (it’s easy to spot, just next to a fire station) and get your test done there. Just make sure you go on a day (Sunday-Thursday) when testing is in session.
If you’re staying downtown, your best option is the Cashman Center, downhill from the Mob Museum and Neon Museum. Again, a taxi or ride-sharing service will be needed but, given your predicament, it’s a small price to pay. Wherever you go, appointments are strongly advised. The testing, however, is free to the public.
