If you use a casino-branded credit card, does that count as having used your players card and earned points, thereby keeping your account current?
[Editor's Note: For this answer, we turned to Michael Friedman, co-writer for our excellent Travel Game blog and all-around expert when it comes to loyalty programs and award travel, which includes casino players clubs, frequent-flyer miles, hotel and cruise-ship points, and credit-card bonuses. If you haven't checked out The Travel Game, it's definitely worth a gander; you'll find it in all its glory at the bottom of the home page. Click on any link to get to the blog and you'll see an extensive list of categories in the top navigation menu. Thanks, Mike, for your expertise with this answer.]
For most of the major credit cards, the answer is "yes."
MGM: For Pearl and above, MGM will extend your points as long as you have activity in your account every 12 months, and activity from your credit card counts. Note that you receive automatic Pearl status when you get the credit card.
Caesars: Caesars gives you only six months before your points expire, but credit card points do count against the expiration.
Station: Station's Boarding Pass is a no. I found that hard to believe, but their terms and conditions online indicate that only points earned from gaming count. A phone call to Station confirmed that.
