Was it ever determined what Dennis Hof, who owned a bunch of brothels in Nevada, died of suddenly?
Yes.
In late March, it was announced that Dennis Hof, who was found dead on October 16 at his brothel, the Love Ranch in Crystal, just north of Pahrump, died from a heart attack.
The autopsy determined that the brothel owner and Republican candidate for the Nevada Assembly, who was elected posthumously, had atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease and diabetes and was obese. The toxicology report also revealed that Hof had THC (cannabis) and sildenafil (brand name: Viagra) in his system.
The toxicology report didn’t mention if Hof had any nitrates in his system, but it's a possibility.
Nitrates, also known as nitroglycerin, are prescription drugs used for treating or preventing angina (heart/chest pain) caused by the kind of heart disease from which he suffered. But if he was on nitroglycerin, he shouldn’t have been taking Viagra; in the first 10 years of Viagra’s availability (1998 through 2007), the drug was implicated in nearly 2,000 deaths, mostly from heart attacks. Viagra (along with Cialis and Levitra) and nitrates are a lethal combination.
