What can you tell us about Don’t Tell Mama piano bar at Neonopolis? Worth going?
Don't Tell Mama is a New York-style piano bar at Neonopolis. It's an outpost inspired by the iconic Manhattan original, emphasizing interactive entertainment with a single live pianist, open-mic sing-alongs, and a staff of bartenders, waiters, and waitresses who often double as professional-level singers (many with Broadway, off-Broadway, or touring credits).
We're sorry to admit that though we've stepped inside (to check out a $5 beer special, which was good), we haven't hung out there long enough for a first-hand review. So this answer is based on uniformly positive reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, Yelp, and X. And if you've been there, let us know how you liked it in the comments.
Customers seem to agree that it's worth spending some time if you're floating around downtown and looking for live music, audience participation, and something authentic over flashy. Patrons call it "a hidden gem," "a unique charmer," "a nice escape from the typical Vegas craziness," and "a steal compared to Strip shows."
The vibe is cozy and theatrical — think dim lighting, a corner stage with a grand piano, about 16 bar seats, plus tables, and a small outdoor patio in front of the place for fresh air. Also, it's smoke-free.
There's no cover charge, but there is a one-drink minimum (drinks are in the $8-$15 range) and tipping the performers (especially to sing) is encouraged and keeps the energy high -- at least when the small venue has something of a crowd. The performances span 50+ years of music -- old standards, pop, jazz, and requests. Seating is first-come first-served and it's a relatively small venue for entertainment, so it's best to plan ahead and arrive early, especially on the weekends, to snag a good spot.
Don't Tell Mama is open Sunday–Thursday: 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.; Friday–Saturday till 3:30 a.m. Closed Mondays.
