What is all the construction going on between downtown and the area around the Stratosphere? We’ve hit it the last several trips and it seems to have been going on for ages. It was one long detour after another.
“That’s the Main Street/Commerce one-way couplet project,” says City of Las Vegas Public Information Officer Jace Radke.
“It’s been going on for a couple of years. It finishes up this summer. It changes the orientation of the two streets, making Main Street one-way northbound and Commerce Street one-way southbound.
"Along with that, we’re making street-side parking, adding landscaping, and widening sidewalks, because we know people want to go frequent those businesses. It’s been tough on those businesses down there, but we’re hoping when it’s finished, we’ll have a nice new roadway for all of them.”
