Our local newspaper ran a small blurb about a new resort planned for Las Vegas called Dreamo Casino-Hotel. What can you tell us about it?Also, your link to the new poll (which has been changed from last week's poll preview).
Wow. We can't imagine where your local newspaper heard anything about Dreamo Casino. We haven't seen it reported anywhere and the only reason we know about it at all is that the developers came to us, looking for assistance in projecting gaming revenues based on their intentions to offer the best video poker paytables in all of Las Vegas at all denominations up to $1, including full-pay Deuces Wild, Joker Wild, Downtown Deuces, even Fitzgeralds Loose Deuces.
In addition, they'd like their players club to offer the best base cashback rate in Vegas at 0.5%, plus food-comp dollars at the same 0.5%, with frequent 5x, 7x, and 10x multipliers. No tiers -- all players enjoy the same comp status.
For table game players, Dreamo would offer true odds on all bets at craps, roulette, baccarat, Pai Gow poker, etc., single-zero roulette, and the best blackjack rules (card counters are welcome). The sports book would deal all nickel lines and the poker room would allow smoking (with free cigarettes) and offer players a 24-hour buffet
The Dreamo developers assured us that they'd make a killing by attracting every half-sharp gambler in the world, taking their best shot at the positive games, but going down in flames due to imperfect playing strategies, overbetting their bankrolls, partaking in extra-strong comped drinks, and being distracted by dealertainers, trained shills at the tables, high-decibel Muzak, signature scents that simulate fresh cash and dispel inhibitions, and high information loads such as lighting, colors, crowded spaces, and a random floor design.
We provided our analysis (which unfortunately is proprietary due to an airtight non-disclosure agreement), then wondered aloud about the developers' ability to find financing for such an unlikely casino business model. They told us that they're confident they can raise the $100 million-$150 million necessary to open Dreamo within a mile of the Strip.
But we can say this: The odds of this joint opening are so slim that we recommended the developers call it Dreamon Casino.
And here's your link to the new poll, which is different than the one in the preview last week: Will the casinos reopen with reduced fees and odds and lots of deals? Or will it be business as normal before the shutdown?
No foolin'.
(And thanks to Alonthenet for his Big Assist with today's QoD.)
