We ran the question by Karen Dorsey, long-time executive at Ellis Island (and long-time wife of Joe Dorsey, the subject of our book Joe's Dash). She responded with the following.
"We not only allow children in our large 24/7 Village Pub Cafe, but the menu also has lots of kid-friendly food. However, we reserve the small BBQ venue for adults only."
We clarified, "In other words, the adults in the BBQ room know that they can have some peace?"
Karen said, "That's right -- and by popular demand!"
We can attest to the quiet of the small barbecue space, as well as the small but mighty bargain menu. It consists of full and half racks of baby back ribs ($20.99 and $16.99, less $3 with a players club card and another $2 after playing $5 in the casino); half BBQ chicken ($15.99, with the same discounts), and a half-rack of ribs and a half-chicken ($18.99 with discounts). All meals are served with Ellis Island's special root beer barbecue baked beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and garlic bread.
This is excellent slow-smoked BBQ at ridiculously inexpensive prices for big plates of food. You'll find us there fairly often. We have a 2-for-1/50% off coupon in our Member Rewards Book that's good at either the Village Pub Cafe or BBQ, which makes an already-great deal even better.
