Question of the Day - 13 January 2026

Q:

I saw online that Caesars is buying up everything in the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of Horseshoe. What will happen to Giordano's restaurant? They have the dining and drinking area within the shops, but the actual restaurant up the escalator to the hotel/casino. Also, what is being proposed to fill in for the vacated space occupied by the shops?

A:

First, the Grand Bazaar Shops aren't going away. However, a large-scale rethink seems to be in progress. Caesars Entertainment’s investment in the real estate indicates that it has faith in the basic concept.

We've noted incremental changes at the Bazaar for some time, including the ascendancy of food outlets over retail, the Las Vegas Strip being arguably glutted with the latter. There have been various comings and goings of eateries and retailers, but that's commonplace in malls.

It's true that the flea-market concept is becoming a thing of the past. So too are some of the buildings within the Bazaar. Many of the existing tenants are leaving, with Caesars not renewing leases. It seems like the Grand Bazaar Shops will be less of a bazaar, with grander buildings and bigger brands, as evidenced by Ole Red and Bottled Blonde, the two multi-story dining and entertainment venues that have opened in the past couple of years, which will remain. Certainly the Bazaar idea clashes to some degree with the Horseshoe idea.

The specific fate of Giordano’s has yet to be revealed. We were repeatedly stonewalled by Caesars about it, so definitive answers to your questions are presumably in the future.

However, given the integral role of the Chicago-based restaurant, which you note, to say nothing of its size and central location in the Shops (the 4,000-square-foot eatery and a separate 1,700-square-foot patio and bar located in the Grand Allée’s main walkway), plus it's having just celebrated its ninth anniversary here, we’d be a bit surprised if it's on its way out.

    Giordano’s, whew
One of the things this former Chicagoan misses most about the Windy City is Giordano’s. I always try to get my fix when I go to Vegas, so I am relieved to hear that there are no immediate plans to do away with it. If Caesars decides it’s no longer a good fit for the Grand Bazaar location, I sure hope it relocates — closer to downtown would suit me fine. 😉
