Is it legal to transport gummy bears through Harry Reid airport that were purchased in Las Vegas?
Sorry to say, the answer is a definitive no. It's not legal.
Bringing any cannabis product with more than 0.3% THC on an aircraft is against federal law. The typical gummy has 10 milligrams of THC, 30 or so times the legal limit.
A related question: Can airport security detect the difference between candy/vitamin gummies and cannabis gummies?
On the surface, again, no. If you mix cannabis gummies with your vitamins, TSA would have no reason to check them. And even if they did, as far as we know (and correct us if our information is lacking), they don't have the equipment to analyze gummies for THC content on the spot.
That said, you should be able to tell the difference, so you don't take a "vitamin" with breakfast and an hour later find yourself lying paralyzed on the office floor, with the bosses hovering over you, deciding whether or not to call an ambulance -- or the cops. (In other words, edibles are extremely potent.)
Also, tests show that even pot-sniffing DEA dogs have trouble identifying cannabis content in edibles.
That said, again, it's not legal. If by some extreme misfortune you're caught, you're probably in a bit of trouble.
