Question of the Day - 03 February 2019

Q:

My wife has trouble walking and qualifies for a handicapped placard in Pennsylvania, where we live. When we travel to Las Vegas, we always rent a car. If I hang the Pennsylvania placard from the car’s rear-view mirror, will it be honored in Las Vegas?

A:

Yes, it will.

Nevada recognizes disability placards and plates from all other U.S. states, plus foreign ones, provided the credentials are valid and current and that the person to whom they apply is traveling in the vehicle.

Note, however, that handicapped credentials don’t exempt the vehicle from any applicable parking fees or meter payments.

    Handicap Placard
    I have used my California placard inn both Las Vegas and other Nevada cities as well as numerous places in Colorado with no problem.Being the compulsive type that I am I also carry the paper copy with my name on it because either a friend or one of my sons is usually driving. Leprechaun28

    Smart
    Smart to carry your papers indicating who the placard was issued to for use. My uncle has one and we laugh at the irony that he has to get one of the earliest tee times just to get a handicap parking space at the golf course because they fill up so fast. :D

    Placard
    I agree with those that mentioned having your paper work as well as the placard. It hasn’t happened to me but I have heard of other people being asked to produce it. You can buy holders that will fit both the paper work and the plastic placard and keep them together. The State of Ohio gave me one for free when I applied for a placard for my dad.

    @Del Miller
    It's so rare that anyone cares about they're typos on the internet where people routinely add apostrophes to plural nouns and other spelling and grammar mistake's.

    Most forums have edit and delete options for comments that have already been posted. The QoD comments lack this feature. I think it should be added. Just my too cents.
